ISDN

Our ISDN service allows you to use an ISDN modem and phone line, which can possibly double your dial-up connection speed.

High-Speed Internet (DSL)

We offer High-Speed Internet service and data access over telephone lines. In most cases, Shentel's High-Speed Internet will work over existing phone lines, delivering speeds up to 180 times faster than 56k dial-up service! The connection is direct, eliminating the need to dial in every time. High-speed users can stay connected 24 hours a day, with no limitations on hours of use.

T-1 Access

Web Hosting Services

We offer web hosting services for personal use. Web hosting is space that we reserve on our server for personal information to be stored and/or accessed by other web users.

Static IP & Subnet Information

An IP Address or Internet Protocol Address is a unique string of numbers that identifies your computer on the Internet. These numbers look similar to this: 204.111.2.60.

All resources on the Internet are assigned an IP address. When you purchase a static IP address from Shentel, instead of being randomly assigned an IP address each time you log-in, you will be assigned the same IP address each time. This is mostly used for networking computers such as computers that share the same server, gaming and PC Anywhere.

Subnets are defined as all devices whose IP addresses have the same prefix. For example all the devices with IP addresses that start with 100.100.100 would be part of the same subnet. Dividing a networking into subnets is useful for both security and performance reasons. IP networks are divided using a subnet mask.

Shentel can assign a static IP address for any of the access services offered. The monthly charge for a static IP is $10 with a one-time set-up charge of $10. We also offer the use of a subnet of up to 32 addresses at a charge of $20 per month with a set-up charge of $50.
